Your sanctuary of holistic wellness, learning, and mindful living
At The Almanage, each corner is designed to help you unwind, a sanctuary that invites you to slow down and breathe deeply. Here, nature is not just a backdrop, but an integral part of your retreat experience.
Our name is comes from alma – meaning soul, nourishment, and knowledge – and hermitage, a quiet place of retreat. The two bringing together all that we stand for at The Almanage.
Retreats here are centered around helping you create lasting change, with a focus on both nutrition and mindful living, working closely with a select group of experts in their fields, each chosen for their experience, passion, and unique perspective. During your retreat, you can do as much or as little as you would like and we cater to all levels – from complete beginners and people at the beginning of their health journey to experienced retreat goers.
We started The Almanage to help you take control of your health in a way that feels empowering, not overwhelming. Eye-opening, not daunting. A place to reconnect with yourself.
We look forward to welcoming you,
Michelle & Tom
Just outside Clogheen, you’ll find The Vee. Renowned for its breathtaking views and dramatic hairpin bends, this scenic drive offers panoramic views of the Knockmealdown Mountains and is particularly stunning when the valley is peppered with blooming rhododendrons from late May to early June – you’ll notice a nod to the flower in our emblem.
Glengarra Wood, approximately 3km from Clogheen, is part of the Millennium Forest Project and features two waymarked trails. The 2km loop walk and the 7km Millennium Walk take you through diverse stands of trees, offering tranquil forest experiences and views of the surrounding landscape.
Located approximately 17km away is the Swiss Cottage, a beautifully preserved 19th-century ornamental cottage. While for those interested in exploring more of the local heritage, the Rock of Cashel, also known as St. Patrick’s Rock, is a short drive away. Additionally, the nearby Cahir Castle, one of Ireland’s largest and best-preserved castles, provides an opportunity to delve into the Ireland’s rich medieval past.
